Leveraging Webinars and Consultations for Knowledge Exchange and Action
Both during and after the pandemic, we leveraged virtual platforms to connect audiences, foster discussion and disseminate key findings on critical issues related to biodiversity, international trade and sustainable development. Several series of webinars were organized, each focused on specific themes to engage relevant stakeholders.
The inaugural webinar on "Biodiversity and International Trade Policy: Issues, Opportunities, and Challenges" attracted significant participation, with 160 attendees and 285 registrants. Notable participants included representatives from the UK Government, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the private sector. Similarly, the "Trade, Biodiversity, and Climate Change" webinar garnered substantial interest, further amplifying discussions on pressing environmental concerns.
In addition to webinars, regional stakeholder consultations were conducted in Asia, Africa and in Latin America and the Caribbean on “Nature-positive trade for sustainable agricultural supply chains and inclusive development”. These consultations, organized by UNEP in collaboration with TRADE Hub partners and other key stakeholders, brought together diverse participants from governments, the private sector, civil society, research institutions, and financial organizations. Through interactive sessions, stakeholders identified priorities, challenges and opportunities that led them to make actionable recommendations for making trade more nature positive and agricultural supply chains more sustainable.
